Evanescence: Field of Innocence

I just learned that Evanescence material previous to Fallen can be downloaded, legally, and free of charge. See the Evanescence Reference Perfect Rip page for more info. This is a great resource as there are very few physical CDs of this music, and they all fetch high prices on eBay. If Evanescence were to re-release their earlier songs I would be first in line to buy them. But for now, I have the digital version.

Anyway, I love Fallen, and I LOVE The Open Door. And yet compared to Origin, Solitude EP and Sound Asleep EP, they're garbage. Okay, not really, they're very enjoyable. But I find the older stuff much more filled with emotion. Don't get me wrong, these are a bit more of a depressing emotion, but I cannot deny that these have had a much bigger impact on my soul than their later albums.

So, Field of Innocence (12MB), track 7, Origin.

I still remember the world
From the eyes of a child
Slowly those feelings
Were clouded by what I know now

Where has my heart gone
An uneven trade for the real world
Oh I... I want to go back to
Believing in everything and knowing nothing at all

I still remember the sun
Always warm on my back
Somehow it seems colder now

Where has my heart gone
Trapped in the eyes of a stranger
Oh I... I want to go back to
Believing in everything

[Latin hymn:]
Iesu, Rex admirabilis
Et triumphator nobilis,
Dulcedo ineffabilis,
Totus desiderabilis.

Where has my heart gone
An uneven trade for the real world
Oh I... I want to go back to
Believing in everything
Oh, Where

Where has my heart gone
Trapped in the eyes of a stranger
Oh I... I want to go back to
Believing in everything

I still remember.

Wow. I really like those lyrics. You'll have to play the song for me, again.
