New Toys from November, part one, DC and WoW.

My first World of Warcraft figure, finally. I've been eying these ever since the line began, but I have finally taken the plunge. The rest of the figures are now on my want list, most with a high priority.

Tamurra, the Draenei Mage

Finally completed Giganta with the acquisition of Gentleman Ghost. And since I can't find the DCUC Hawkgirl, but bought the DC Direct Justice League of America Hawkgirl. Which I like better anyway.

November's MattyCollector.com DCUC 2 Pack Exclusive, the Color of Fear arrived, with two members of the Sinestro Corps. Also got the last wave 9 figure I needed, Mantis.

Had a good experience at a Target with an employee going a good ways out of her way to find Banshee for me, so I bought all four of the Public Enemeies figures so far released. I'm mostly trying to get the Build-A-Figure Brimstone, but who knows if we'll get Icicle and Banshee in DCUC. Also, the DVD is awesome, go get it!

I recently started following the Action Figure Blues blog, which is yet another blog that has a monthly givaway to commenters. I don't know if they just wanted me to join the forums, or if I really won the luck of the draw, but I won for October. I had my choice of the Salt Vampire from Star Trek The Original Series (by Diamond Select Toys), and Fire from Justice League International series 2 (by DC Direct). I've never actually been crazy about the aliens in Star Trek, other than Klingons and Romulans, and since that figure has been delayed and delayed and might never come out, and because I wanted Fire, I chose Fire. This of course prompted me to try harder to get the other two figures from JLI that I was interestd in, Black Canary in her 80's outfit, and Ice. And I managed to get both for $10 or $11 shipped. As you might imagine, my wife takes issues with the fleshy features of Fire's and Ice's costumes, so they'll be relegated to the back of any displays, but I'm glad to have them, who knows if or when Mattel will get around to releasing them.

Finally picked up Toyman and Supergirl from the penultimate wave of Alex Ross Justice figures. From all reports Toyman is one of the best figures DC Direct has ever done, and Supergirl's just in an odd costume. And I want to eventually acquire the entire Justice line.

I've been wanting to get Crisis on Infinite Earths Supergirl and Harbinger for a while, and I found a good deal on them, and as a bonus, got two other figures free, only one of which (Monitor) was interesting to me. Also, apparently I moved the camera while taking this picture. Despite the tripod.

DC Comics.

Got a really good deal on a Wonder Woman statue. It's not the one I really want (the Cover Girls of DC Wonder Woman statue), so I'll probably try to sell it to get money to buy the other one, though it's roughly 3 times the price.

In a couple of days I'll hopefully continue with with Marvel toys and a new line I got suckered into buying.

Edit: I just realized that every toy picture above has at least one female figure in it, and in most of them she was the focus in my comments about it.

Pic of the Day 19

I don't just collect toys, I've got a growing collection of comic trades. Green Lantern has always been a favorite super hero of mine, way back when I was a kid I probably heard of him through the Super Friends show, and didn't know much about him. I've since learned that Hal Jordan was really lame before he became evil.

Evil Cousin Derek and I have discussed how we really are interested by stories where the good guy eventually becomes the bad guy, so naturally, the story in which Hal Jordan goes a little crazy and decides to kill or de-power all the Green Lanterns, and kill the Guardians of the Universe and absorb all the Green Lantern energy was something I was interested in.

Also naturally, I really like Hal's replacement, Kyle Rayner. I don't have any of the hate that many Hal Jordan fans have (you know, seeing their favorite hero become a mass murderer and be replaced by some two-bit comic artist), and in fact he's still my favorite Green Lantern, though I also quite like John Stewart from his Animated Series' appearances, and Hal got much more interesting once he embraced his darker side and became Parallax and tried to reform the universe in his image, was stopped, was convinced (by Kyle) to try to stop the sun-eater, subsequently died, became the host for the Spectre, and was eventually resurrected and reinstated as a Green Lantern, apparently he went all Red Lantern (Rage) for a little bit, and then put on a Blue Lantern ring (Hope). I don't think he's been Yellow or Orange or Pink yet (Fear, Envy and Love, respectively), but hey, he was dead, maybe he can still be a Black Lantern (Death).

Anyway, it's a good story about Hal rejecting the rules and regulations of the Guardian and using the ring's power for entirely selfish reasons, and consequently becoming one of the most powerful villains ever (and getting a much cooler costume, but I'm always a sucker for armor), and the calling of a new Green Lantern, the first to have no yellow weakness (which was eventually given to all GL Corps members, once the GLC was reinstated), and the first to have to train himself, there being no Green Lantern Corps left to train him.

Okay, I'll stop talking now. These posts are supposed to be about the picture, with little commentary, but obviously I failed on this one.

At Long Last: New Stuff

As the long wait for DCUC 7 continues, I struggle to save my money to pay for my pre-order. However, I got such a good deal offered me a couple weeks ago on The Fwoosh, that I had to take it, and I also saw too good a deal to pass up last night at Walmart.

Lets start with Walmart. I found more of the Marvel Legends Ares wave figures last night, and though I already have Ares (and sold off all the figures but Iron Man and Crossbones) I had to buy Human Torch. Sure, it's not the variant I prefer, but it's still a really good looking figure, and the best part was the price. Check the picture below.

Click it for a larger view. Can you make out the price tag between Joker and his thug? It's $2. Yeah, I'll take it at that price. Heck, I'd buy all of them again at that price, but this was the only one I found.

The loose figures came from the Fwoosh deal, the remaining Movie Masters figures I couldn't afford to buy at full price, Scarecrow, Joker and Gotham Thug. I look forward to the next wave, which will hit sometime this summer, but I doubt DCUC will let up enough for me to get any of them. Also present is Commissioner Gordan from the Dark Victory line, missing his glasses, but he was thrown in for free, so who cares. He came with a much needed gun for Joker's goon. Also, DCUC 4 Ares, to replace the one I bought that has a melted forearm.

The second part of the Fwoosh deal was some Batman comics. The last bunch of Batman comics I got was from this same guy, and these are the ones I had to pass up because of insufficient funds. I wish I would have passed on all of them and waited until he gave me this super great deal, because they were all about $1 each. For trades that retail for $12-$20. Total cost for the figures and trades: $20. Super killer awesome deal, wish I could find more like that.

More New Stuff. Finally

It's been a while since I was able to buy anything. I've been so focused on DCUC that I let the second series of Halo 3 figures pass me by with only one added to my collection. However, with the release of series 3 this past week I went back and arranged a trade for my most wanted figure from 2, pics when it arrives. So, series 3 is out, and I found two of them today at Walmart, the red Hayabusa Spartan and the Combat Elite.

A couple of weeks ago I sold a few extra figures on eBay, got my monthly allowance, and had nothing to buy. I already had DCUC 3, and 4 wasn't due out yet (though it was sighted a week and half ago), but I had all this money burning a hole in my pocket, so I did the only thing I could do. I bought stuff on eBay. I probably should have saved the money until I could order a case of DUCU 4 and 6, but I couldn't contain myself, and a new project came to mind that required a couple of purchases (more on that next post). After far too long a time, stuff has finally been showing up.

I have wanted to read the Batman: No Man's Land story arc for a long time. But the trades are rather expensive, and since it's a long story there are several trades, especially if you count the stories that lead up to it. But I found a seller that let me finagle a good price on the three he had, so now I have volumes 2, 4 and 5 of 5. A few days later I won volume 1 so it's on the way too. I also have a lead on two of the prelude trades (Contagion and Cataclysm) for good prices, except I'm broke again.

I have been trying to get the Batman and Superman Animated Series DVD sets for good prices, and I found good deals on Batman TAS Vol 1 and 3, Superman TAS vol 3 and Justice League Vol 1. This completes my Superman TAS Justice League collections, I still need vol 2 of Batman TAS, both Justice League Unlimited sets, and all three volumes of Batman Beyond (though that's at the bottom of the list).

And finally (for this post) I got one of the somewhat more expensive Sigma 6 figures, for a great price. It's not perfect, it's in somewhat played with condition, his knife and tomahawk need a little touch up paint work, but thanks to Rish Outfield I'm now qualified to make such touch ups. But the important part was the bow and arrows/quiver and they're in great shape, and the figure's nicer than I expected he would be. Presenting Spirit Iron-Knife.

Speaking of painting, I picked up two figures on clearance recently with the intention of painting them. I got the animated Raven Spawn which I plan to do in a black/red deco like the 3" trading figure, and Superman Red, which I plan to go over the red with black, sorta reminiscent of the Justice Lords and Future Superman look from Justice League and Batman Beyond respectively. When I get around to painting them I'll post pics.

Not the figures I was expecting, plus some comics

Received a couple of figures, and several comics in the mail. Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Martian Manhunter, and Supergirl. WW and Aquaman actually aren't the figures I was expecting to receive, I was expecting the WW and Aquaman from the JLA Classified line, like the Manhunter, but oh well. I needed them too.
